USS Lagarto lost since the war and its location and cause of sinking unknown. Jamie found her in May 05 This was the first trip to her and first pictures. We took some relatives of Lagarto crew on board who did a memorial service over the wreck. These are the 1st pics taken of the Lagarto since she was lost. We managed to identify how (and where) she sank answering questions that have been unknown since the war.
Subsequently Jamie was invited to the US to attend a memorial service by relatives and worked with the US Navy on putting US Navy divers on the wreck for a formal ID later.
She is at 78m upright and intact. Some light trawler damage but for and aft guns still in place, as is the compass base (top probably pulled off by nets)
It was discovered that she sunk with all hatches closed and one torpedo tube open. A compression in her side just forward of the conning tower suggests she circum to a depth charge.
