She literally blew appart in a series of explosions occuring within seconds and then sank near the anambas islands in the south china sea abouth 130m north east of singapore on oct 6 1969. while on a ballast voyage from chiba to dumai.32 survivors incl usiding one seriously injured man were picked up by japanese fishing vessle before being transefred to motor vessel arctic ocean which landed all31 in singapore 4 crewmen remained missing presumed dead. The 7 skies became the 3rd largest shipping loss of all time. She was only 3 years old when she sank.

She is in 68m of water upright with easy access to engine/bolier room. Bow section was blow away from the stern and sits some distance away from the wreck.
